It’s The Little Things 5/52

Writing about my little things each week, has really changed my perspective.  I search for them.  And I find them in places I least expect.  I look at things differently, through a brighter filter.  I really notice.

And I love hearing and reading about other people’s little things.  Learning what they see, and what things mean to them.

Amongst this week’s house-hunting, cellar clearing, and dentist visiting, we’ve found some lovely moments.

A Little Object Love

Bee and I went to a wonderful birthday party.  She found her happy place amongst the balloon filled paddling pool, and only bubbles or jelly could tempt her out.  We took a red balloon home.  It has not left her side.  Bee kisses it, cleans it, sits on it and carries it everywhere.  If she’s not holding it, she’s hiding and finding it.  She loves her red balloon.

A Little Inspiration

A friend gave me a business idea this week.  I’m very excited by it, and itching to give it a go.  It might just have to wait until after our house move, if my impatience can be held back for that long.

A Little Message

Every time I publish a new blog post, Dan makes a point of sending me an email to tell me how proud he is.  We tell each other ‘I love you’ all the time.  But, I suspect like many couples, we often forget to really get down to details.  To tell each other the tiny things we love.  To tell them we are proud.  We sometimes need it spelled out.  It really means a lot.

A Little Muddy Adventure

We’re love being outside, and I’m pretty relaxed about mess and mud.  Bee is a little more cautious.  So I was really happy when, on our woodland walk, she found a muddy puddle.  With a little encouragement, she tentatively stepped in.  She stamped, and splashed.  Then she sat down.  Bee refuses to sit down in the bath, so I was more than surprised.  She spent a good 15 minutes sat in the puddle, splashing and swilling the muddy water around.  A few passers-by probably thought I was crazy, but Bee had a marvellous time.

What a lovely thing for Dan to do. You’re right it is so easy to forget to tell each other why you love them, but it always feels good to hear it.
Reuben likes to sit in puddles – so I have been told. Many times I pick him up from preschool and they tell me he has been sitting in the puddles. He tends to not do that when he is with me, not that I would mind. I think it is because we don’t have waterproof bottoms for him like the preschool do……. who knows. #itsthelittlethingslinky

I’m itching to get it started, but we just have too much on our life plate at the moment.

I love that she sat in the puddle! I’m determined to let my little girl enjoy every filthy moment of childhood by not worrying about mess & dirt too much. Although I’m quite house proud I know I can only keep it up until she starts to move about! Great parenting! xx

Aww thank you. Its easier to do mess and dirt outside, that way i’m not worrying about her painting the walls of our rented house.
