I love being inspired by other bloggers. I recently discovered Jodie who writes over at Dear Little Daisy and Lauren of Dilan and Me. They’ve just started a challenge called It’s The Little Things, looking back on each week and appreciating all the small things, that make everything worth while.
As part of my new year challenge to embrace the word slow, I thought this would be a chance to stop, reflect and notice the little things that have made my week special.
A Little Kindness goes a Long Way
Earlier this week I perfectly represented the fraught mama. A toddler on one hip and masses of shopping in the other hand. I struggled up a hill, balancing a brown paper bag containing hot curry from the health food shop. Disaster. The paper bag split and lunch was all over the pavement and all over me. Whilst I pondered my predicament, how to rescue lunch, and my jeans, whilst simultaneously stopping Bee dashing into the road, a lady stopped and asked if she could help. She whipped a plastic bag out of her handbag, and kept an eye on Bee, as I scooped what remained of the curry into it. Our lunch was saved, and so was my day.
A Little Coconut Oil and Chamomilla
Bee is teething again. When she first started teething we got some chamomilla tablets from the homeopath (that dissolve in the mouth). They really work for Bee, and I’m happy knowing that I’m not filling her body with strong medicines. Along with the teething comes lots of dribble. Bee’s sensitive skin doesn’t react well to excessive moisture, so frequently applied coconut oil keeps it from getting too sore. I don’t know where we’d be without our cupboard of natural remedies.
A Little Something to Make Someone Smile
I wanted to do something for a good friend who is having a tough time this week. A small package of mindfulness goodies, full of love and care, is now hanging on her back gate. I had so many good feelings putting it together, I hope it makes her smile.
